Hello!
I’m Chloe Brennan. Since childhood, art has helped me stay grounded. When making art, my mind enters a flow state: there is one direct pipeline from my thoughts to the page. It is a unique focus I don’t quite experience with other activities … a way to express what is in my brain without judgment or confinement. Beyond therapeutic, it’s a way to connect with others. Many of my friendships are built on a foundation of creating together. It is a vulnerable thing to share, and for that reason, it brings people close. My family members are all fans of art in its many forms. Music, dance, movies, museums: We share all these. My connections with friends and family are essential and influence my art greatly.
My hometown of Chicago has also contributed to my work which reflects the blend of urban landscape and natural green space that filled my childhood. My first love has always been nature. The beautiful visuals of the natural world inspire me. This is one of the reasons I am passionate about conservation. Art is a powerful tool I intend to use for personal expression and as a voice for our planet. I love finding the interdisciplinary connections between science and art and blending my understanding of the two in my work. My curiosity for the world parallels my curiosity for all kinds of art mediums. Lane Tech High School has helped me pursue these interests through stem classes and instruction in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and digital imaging. I use these mediums to express myself, make observations, and spread awareness.
In the future, I hope to use my art to help educate society on important topics such as environmental conservation. I want to help others through my work but also find ways to soothe myself through the art of creation.
I invite you to check out my explorations below.
